We already know Sky’s working on broadcasting 3D TV signals, but you’ll still need a 3D TV to view them, and now we know who to buy it from: Mitsubishi. It’s been showing off its latest 3D screen at CES, measuring a whopping 73 inches across.
It’s the largest 3D TV around, and while it’s still a way from being commercially available, the Big M has pledged to get them into living rooms in the near future.
Frank DeMartin, vice president of marketing at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America said: “It is clear that this technology will be the next in-demand feature on home theater products… 3D in the home is becoming an exciting reality and Mitsubishi’s 3D-ready Home Theater TVs will play a key role in allowing consumers to enjoy 3D movies and gaming.”
So when will we have 3D TV at home? An exact date is still pretty vague, but Mitsubishi says it’ll keep improving the technology throughout 2009 and 2010. As long as it’s in time for the 2012 Olympics, we’ll be happy.
