LG says 3D TV will be the “next big thing” after the HD revolution. It’s been busy working on 3D TVs over the past few months, alongside the world’s slimmest LCD TVs, and planned support for WirelessHD streaming. The upshot is 3D TV will be in your living room soon.
At its keynote at CES in Las Vegas today, the company revealed that it was working on a 3D chipset to be built into LCD TVs, projectors and plasma screens, so you’ll be able to get depth perception on just about any video source you care to chuck in.
Head of R&D at LG, Dr Woo Paik, declared 3D TV the “next big technology”, and while there was no tech on display, it’s still cause for excitement.
3D TVs themselves are nothing new – Sky has been dabbling with 3D broadcasts and we saw Mitsubishi’s prototype in action yesterday – but if LG are getting in on the game with chipsets for every type of screen, you can bet consumer devices are actually on the horizon.
