Sling Media’s officially confirmed what we already knew: SlingPlayer’s heading to Mac and iPhone.

We’d already revealed the web portal that’ll allow users to tune into their Slingbox through a browser, and have already seen SlingPlayer for iPhone in action, but now it’s all been given the official green light from Sling, with word that full Mac compatibility is just months away.

The company says it’ll launch a SlingPlayer for Mac HD officially at the Macworld conference in San Francisco this week, confirming that SlingPlayer for iPhone will also allow users to tune into their home TVs using 3G as well as Wi-Fi.

According to Pocket-Lint, SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone will be handed over for approval and testing by Apple before the end of March. It’s then up to the Mac maker to shovel it onto the App store in double quick time.

SlingPlayer for Mac HD, meanwhile, will go live through Sling’s web portal in the first quarter of 2009.
