Be gone, bulky set top boxes: Samsung‘s kicking out the clutter from underneath your telly with a Blu-ray player that rivals Nicole Richie for anorexic chic at just 39mm thick, and it’s being unveiled this week.

The Korean company has been teasing us with a tip off of the svelte Blu-rayer ahead of an expected Wednesday launch at CES in Las Vegas. There’s few specs yet, but expect all your usual 1080p perfect pictures as well as enough space to fit your front surround sound speaker under the box, and the standard piano black finish. Fingers crossed it’ll be Profile 2.0 for all your usual extra interactiveness.

Slimline home cinema looks set to be a major trend at CES this year, with Samsung showing off a petite 7mm thick TV at the tradeshow to accompany it, and arch rival LG showing off it’s own “world’s slimmest” LED TV at 24.8mm. We’ll be there covering it all, live, so stay tuned for plenty of juicy pics and specs.
