Sony’s already admitted it’s unveiling a new Vaio at CES this week, and now we’ve had word on the specs that’ll be tucked away inside.
The new Vaio netbook, rumoured to be called the Vaio P, will have a 1.33Ghz Intel Atom processor and 2GB of memory. Storage will be provided by a hard disk, although there’ll be the option to upgrade to a solid state drive too.
Other optional extras will include GPS and built in 3G, and we’ve also heard it’ll sport a newly designed keyboard and a trackpad-replacing ‘nipple’.
All this for €700, or £670. Sure, it’s pricey for a netbook, but from what we’ve seen this will be a premium pint-sized lappy, and if Sony thinks there’s a market for expensive netbooks, you can guarantee Apple does too.
Will the Vaio P go head to head with a MacBook nano? Only a couple of days until we find out. Sony’s CES press conference kicks off on Wednesday.
