The Mozilla Foundation has issued an updated alpha release of ‘Fennec’ the codename for the mobile version of the Firefox web browser.

Fennec appeared on the Nokia 810 tablet a few months ago, but the intention has always been to launch the browser on several mobile handsets. While the original release was about getting things in a workable state, Mozilla’s Stuart Parmenter says that, “We’ve spent much of the time since focused on improving performance.”

As well as performance improvements, some time has been spent improving Windows Mobile and Symbian compatability – although the Nokia 810 port is the only one currently available for download.
