HP prepping Mi branded netbook

With CES kicking off this week you can expect a deluge of new laptops, like the Dell Studio XPS and Adamo, but it’s not just standard sized notebooks, it looks like HP’s preparing a new ultra-portable, dubbed the Mi… for Mobile Internet.

Leaked promotional materials show HP’s Mini 1000 Mi laptop will run Linux, pack a built-in webcam, be compatible with HP’s add-on storage (dubbed the HP Mini Mobile Drive) and offer a near-full-size keyboard to make it comfy to type on.

Unfortunately there’s no word on specs inside the machine, so we’re left wondering how much horsepower and memory it’ll actually pack. But with a price tag starting at $379.99, or just over £260, it looks a slick little machine.

We’ll reserve judgement until HP announces it officially, which it’s expected to do on Wednesday.
