Pink iPhone appears on eBay

January 2nd, 2009

iPhones in colours other than the regulation black and white are nothing new, thanks to the accommodating folks at ColorWare – but a pink-finished 8GB 3G model has been placed up for auction on eBay, and it looks surprisingly official. Could Apple be prepping a new colour choice for 2009?

The official-ness comes from the fact that all the text and logos on the back of the iPhone is visible. ColorWare’s custom paint jobs leave only the Apple logo untouched, covering everything else up.

The seller, who is based in Milton Keynes, states that the item may be “the only pink iPhone on the market” and that the actual phone body is coloured – no case or cover trickery is employed.

With Macworld only a few days away, could this be an early glimpse of Apple’s plans for the iPhone 3G? Or simply a one-off oddity? We’ll be live blogging Apple’s keynote speech next week – tune in then for the lowdown on any product announcements.
