We’re still feeling pretty down about the loss of Free Radical Design which collapsed earlier in the month, closing its doors to employees and shattering our hopes for TimeSplitters 4. The game was clearly quite a bit beyond merely an idea being tossed around; there were already model designs being worked on, which now serve no purpose other than to flesh out one artist’s web portfolio.
The same is true for Star Wars Battlefront 3, but that is already rumoured to have been picked up by Oxfordshire developer Rebellion and that might explain why some of the images were subsequently pulled from the artist’s site. Either way, Star Wars is always going to look like Star Wars whatever happens, but though another dev might get the TS4 gig, it’ll never be quite the same.
So here’s the last fleeting glimpse of the game that might have been, were it not for an economic downturn and one unfortunate PS3 exclusive that failed to pass muster.
