Classic point ‘n’ click adventure Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars will be appearing on the Nintendo DS & Wii in the new year, Ubisoft have revealed.

The game – a graphical adventure featuring a conspiracy-laden plot (a little bit Da Vinci Code, a little bit Indiana Jones) first appeared on the PC back in 1996 and has since popped up on several platforms including Palm OS, Windows Mobile and the Game Boy Advance.

A Wii/DS version makes a lot of sense – both (particularly the DS) will lend themselves to the point ‘n’ click style of play and won’t be taxed too much by the modest graphical demands of the title.

Ubisoft/Revolution have promised bigger areas to explore and additional puzzles in the new version of the game – dubbed the ‘Directors Cut’. Players will now start the game as photojournalist Nicole Collard, experiencing a ‘prologue’ to the main plot and will only later encounter George Stobbart – formerly the main protagonist.
