Mobile Spy – the app of choice for the paranoid/devious snooper – has just added the iPhone to the list of handsets it can silently monitor.

The idea behind Mobile Spy is that you – be you an over-controlling employer, jealous lover, stalker or (just possibly, but be prepared to be misunderstood) practical joker – install it on someone else’s phone, or on a phone you give to them to use.

The app sits in the background as a hidden process, silently monitoring all the incoming and outgoing calls, web browsing and SMS messages and then uploads detailed log files to an online database that you can access using your Mobile Spy account.

One slight comfort about the iPhone version is that it requires the phone to have been jailbroken in order to work. This could be the first recorded positive side to the iPhone’s inability to multitask.
