Nokia owners on Vodafone can now use their handsets to tap into Last.fm, as the network unveils a new mobile app to serve up music and track listening on the move.
As you’d expect, Vodafone’s app includes Last.fm’s scrobbling functionality, so every song listened to contributes to a listener’s profile. The service then uses that listening history to stream new music to each user based on their tastes.
The new app can work independently of a PC, with new users able to sign up to Last.fm on their handset and start streaming music straight away. Anyone using the service in Germany will also be able to click through directly to the Vodafone Music Store to buy music they’ve just heard.
There’s no word on when that functionality will hit the UK, and at the moment it’s limited to working with Nokia handsets: the N95, N96, N78 and 6210.
Owners of those mobiles can download the app at www.last.fm/vodafonescrobbler
