Cowon’s latest digital music player has just touched down, and its makers are throwing out some bold suggestions concerning its audio quality. For this MP3 player has had its development overseen by famed sound engineer and Cowon CEO Namkyu “Golden Ears” Park.
We’re not making that nickname up, by the way. Mr Park is reportedly renowned for his ability to distinguish between the smallest sounds, which has earned him his unusual moniker.
The player itself comes with a 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen, either 8GB or 16GB of storage, stereo Bluetooth 2.0 for wireless headphones, a built-in mic for voice recording and the ability to play back a wide range of audio and video file formats including lossless FLAC.
On paper it looks like the ideal rival to Apple’s iPod touch, and the price is around the same (the S9 is £169 for the 8GB edition, £199 for the 16GB). Will Golden Ears’ tuning be enough sway buyers away from the Apple juggernaut, though?

i think the cowon s9 looks great and a definite contender to grab some market share from the ipod touch. although, not keen on the lack of wifi
