Nokia’s started the day with some bad news: enterprising hackers have found a way to strip files from its Comes With Music service of their DRM protection. It works by re-dubbing music from the protected file into a DRM-free copy, whizzing through a three minute track in just a couple of seconds. Ouch.
Sony’s having a better morning, with the news that its much-maligned PS3 Home service will finally go live to the public tomorrow. It’s been in testing for a while, but now Sony’s ready to rip off the covers and let the gaming community at large have at it.
From the latest screenshots, however, we have to say: it doesn’t look so much like PlayStation Home, as PlayStation Shopping Centre. There’s more branding inside than a cattle shed!
Lastly, Sony Ericsson have set tongues wagging with news it has joined the Open Handset Alliance. For the unenlightened that’s the foundation behind the Android operating system. Does it mean Sony’s working on its own Android handset?
