Sony’s making job cuts, the tech sector is braced for the worst next year, and stores are discounting gadgets like they’re going out of style.

But is the dreaded recession putting a crimp on your gadget spend? Or are you making the most of the bargains, stocking up on entertainment kit and preparing the batten down the hatches for a year of chanting “staying in is the new going out” through 2009?

Make no mistake, there are bargains to be had everywhere, from movies, games and music to home entertainment hardware and games consoles. And, on the bright side, few manufacturers will be releasing updates to make your purchases outmoded in just a few months time.

Give us a shout in the comments section below. Are you saving your cash, or grabbing every bargain in sight? Share any hot deals there too, we’d love to hear them.

The bargains have been crap. I bought a PS3 the other week… but that’s it. All the discounted games are old, or a bit rubbish. My phone’s due for upgrade next month, but I haven’t seen any of the tariffs get cheaper. It’s all fluff really, they’re not seriously dropping prices.
