Wow. Do you think perhaps this phone may have been on the drawing board before the economy vanished around the U-bend?
Luxury phone merchant Mobiado has launched the 105GMT Gold – a phone so utterly at odds with both the economic climate and, well, taste that it almost deserves to outsell the iPhone.
Described by Mobiado as “the expression of mechanical perfection, mastering of aesthetic details, and the integrity of consistant craftsmanship,” the 105GMT Gold is made from gold, machine-carved ebony, a gold-plated chassis, sapphire crystal buttons and battery cover and a bit more gold.
One slightly more interesting feature is the pair of mechanical clocks mounted below the (crystal) keypad. These are presumably meant to be set to different time zones so you can tell if your swiss bank is open when you are lolling around the beach on Mustique.
The phone features a Symbian Series 40 OS, 1 GB of storage and a 2 megapixel camera. Obviously, at this point you will be frantically googling to try and buy one of these beauties – but be quick, only fifty are being made.
