Nokia have confirmed that they will roll out DAB digital radio radio access to their handsets, but not until the market is ‘mature’ enough.
Speaking to Pocket Lint, Nokia’s Product and Technology Marketing Director, Sari Stahlberg, would not give a time frame form DAB adoption saying, “When the technology reaches mass adoption we would consider putting DAB radios into our phones.
“The more the technology is adopted across Europe and other territories, the more chance it’s got of being included.”
Anyone missing out on BBC 7, 6 Music or any of the other fine DAB stations can actually access most of them on their Series 60 Nokas already, though – the Nokia Internet Radio app has been available for over a year and works over either 3G or WiFi. If station access is the issue – rather than sound quality – Internet Radio might be a good alternative.
