Sky to offer web-only TV packages

Want Sky, but don’t want a dish on the side of your house? Now you can get the satellite superpower’s channels streamed direct to your PC or Mac. For a price.

The telly giant just announced its new Sky Player service, dishing up its Base Entertainment Pack, including Sky News and Sky Sports News, The Disney Channel, Eurosport and National Geographic for £15 per month.

Order it before the end of January and it’ll cost half price. But we reckon it’s a lot for just three channels that couldn’t be received with a Freeview adapter.

Adding more channels makes it even more expensive. £26 per month will get you the Base Entertainment Package, plus two Sky Sports channels, while a whopping £34 per month will get you all of the above, plus ever Sky Sports channel.

Of course, it’ll be a boon to frequent travellers, but for the rest of us, is it worth it? Give us a shout in the comments section below.
