Activision and Atari have gone on a splurge, announcing a slew of new games due for arrival 2009 and beyond. In the pipe are an Infinity Ward-developed sequel to their award-winning Call Of Duty high-point Modern Warfare, more Dungeons & Dragons games including a sequel to Baldur’s Gate and a Tony Hawk you won’t play “with a controller in your hands”, according to an Activision rep.

The Tony Hawk announcement, alongside news that the game is set to release on Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 as well as Wii, has fuelled speculation that the game is to feature some sort of skateboard peripheral add-on.

Other announcements by Activision included: Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations (now owned by Activision) are working on two games – a Bond “racing and driving focussed” title that’s not tied to a film and a game they described as “Mario Kart meets Forza”. Guitar Hero 5 was also, unsurprisingly, announced.

Atari meanwhile promised more Dungeons & Dragons games including a sequel to Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate. Plus a sequel to Test Drive Unlimited and Ready 2 Rumble: Revolution for the Wii, coming in March.

This. Is. Excellent news! I’m still addicted to COD4, and if I’m honest was a little disappointed with COD5. With Infinity Ward back developing it, the next game can’t fail to be awesome!
