Microsoft’s putting the finishing touches to Windows Vista Service Pack 2, bringing bug fixes galore, as well as a handful of new features. Best of all, it’ll be made available for the first time tomorrow!
The update will weigh in at around 300MB, and those eager to install it will be able to sign up to a Customer Preview Program to get hold of it tomorrow. After that, it’ll hit Windows Update for everyone else running Vista in April.
But what’s inside? Aside from the numerous bug fixes and performance tweaks there are some new features. Windows Connect Now will handle Wi-Fi in a much simpler way, while those with Blu-Ray burners will get the ability to record discs directly within the operating system.
There’s also beefed up search, with Windows Search indexing Vista machines much more efficiently. Gadgets installed in the sidebar will also be less hungry, using fewer system resources and, in the case of RSS readers, improving performance.
But is it worth the update? For the bug fixes alone, yes. For anyone hoping there’ll be a ton of whizzy new features, we’re afraid you’ll have to wait for Windows 7.
