Microsoft has announced sales figures in Japan, Europe and the US showing a surge in sales of its Xbox 360 console. In America, Microsoft has announced that on “Black Friday” (the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, and traditionally a big sales day in the US) its Xbox 360 console outsold the Sony PS3 three-to-one.

In Europe, Microsoft also claims it has outsold the PS3 every week since its September price drop. And that sales of the console are currently running at nearly double what they were last year.

In Japan, Square Enix role-playing Xbox 360 epic The Last Remnant sold over 100,000 units in its first week, garnered a 38/40 in an influential Famitsu review and doubled console sales week-on-week to 15,474. Sadly, that was still nearly 2,000 units behind the Sony PS3 which continues to outperform its rival in the Japanese market, according to sales monitor Media Create.
