As disappointed by Apple’s “sale” as we were? Not to fear – there’s plenty of real bargains to be had right now, even if Alistair Darling’s VAT cuts aren’t being passed on to customers everywhere just yet.
We’ve scoured through catalogues and dug through discounts to come up with a fire sale of our very own: this Friday we’ve got printers, digital radios, MP3 players, top quality earphones and even camcorders, all under 50 quid each! Come and see!
Aiptek T250LE PocketDV Digital Camcorder (£49.99 from Amazon.co.uk)
We’ve raved about Flip’s easy to use video cameras for some time now, but maybe they’re not the best value video shooters out there. Aiptek‘s T250LE PocketDV films at a better resolution (720×480), coming with a better, 1.5 inch LCD display and an SD card slot. And for today only, it’s £49.99 from Amazon.co.uk with free delivery, or if you’re prepared to go over that magic number, you can get a bundled 2GB memory card for an extra £3.

Lexmark X3470 Printer, scanner and copier all in one (£39.99 from PC World)
It’s incredibly wasteful, but if you drain ink cartridges like you were using them to shower in, it can often be cheaper just to buy a whole new printer each time. Case in point: Lexmark’s X3470, which will handle any consumer’s printing desires (Up to 4,800×1,200 dpi), memory card reading and borderless printing, for under £40. Conveniently, it also scans and photocopies, if the thought of a paperless office fills you with fear.

Creative Zen Mozaic 2GB Black (£39.14 from Comet)
Creative‘s little Nano-basher is yours now for less than the price of an iPod Shuffle, with plenty more talents too. There’s a 1.8 inch screen for one, and while you wouldn’t want to watch video on it, those who enjoy squinting certainly can, and there’s space for 2GBs of tunes. All that, plus the Mozaic’s funky control pad tiles.

Sennheiser CX500 Headphones (£49.99 from Play.com)
So you’ve just taken our advice and shelled out on the Mozaic MP3 player, but you’re not too happy with the headphones provided? No problem, you can pick up these Sennheisers for less than ten bob too. The gold plated plug and two layer earpads mean hi-fi sounds, but you’d better get in sharpish, as the CX500s are usually worth £69.99.

Pure Digital Chronos II DAB clock radio (£49.99 from Play.com)
£50 for an alarm clock sounds faintly ridiculous until you realise you can wake up to the crisps sounds of digital radio every morning instead of Terry Wogan’s voice that goes fuzzy as soon as you sit up. It’s future proofed too with support for DAB+ and a USB port to make firmware upgrades when new features become available.
