Panasonic T8 Toughbook unboxed

If you’ve ever dropped your laptop on the floor and heard a soul destroying crunch, you’ll know how delicate the lil’ things can be. Panasonic‘s Toughbook range give the clumsy and outdoorsy types portable computers that can take a beating however, and we’ve just got the latest model, the T8, here in the office. We smashed it out of its box to see if it’s as hard as it thinks it is – see for yourself after the jump.

The T8′s a bulky little beast for a 12.1 incher, and probably the thickest notebook you’ll ever come across, but picking it up will change your attitude towards it. It’s sturdier than a brick outhouse, but the magneisum alloy shell means it’s barely any heavier than a MacBook.

There’s some serious specs underneath its indestructible bonnet too: an Intel Centrino SU9300 chip, a shock-mounted 120GB HDD, optional 3G connectivity and a ludicrously long lasting battery (We haven’t had a chance to run it down yet, but we’ve heard it’s between five and nine hours). Oh and did we mention it also has a touchscreen?

Yours to own now, for a pricey £1,425, but to keep you satisfied between now and payday, we’ve got plenty of unboxing shots below. Just click on them to get up close yourself.
