Nintendo‘s latest joypad-busting gaming device, the Wii Speak microphone, doesn’t go on sale here until December 5th, but we’ve got our hands on one early – see the pics after the jump!
We wouldn’t normally touch Animal Crossing with a very long bargepole (That 3+ sign is so visible for a reason), but since the latest version, Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City, comes with Wii Speak in the box, we made an exception this once.
We’re impressed by the size and subtlety of the Speak: it’s only three inches wide and clad in the same grey plastic as the Wii’s motion sensor. It also sits neatly on top of the sensor bar with the help of a few sticky pads provided.
We plugged it into one of the Wii’s USB ports, installed the update to grab the Wii Speak Channel (about five seconds worth of fiddling) and were away – or playing Animal Crossing at least. We’ll have first impressions of how it works tomorrow, so stay tuned.
Out 5 December | £60 | Nintendo
