LG has been keen on collaborations with other brands in the past (Prada phones and Swarovski fridges for example), but we’ve just had word of its biggest partnership yet: Formula One, and it looks like a tie-in phone could be emerging from the pits very soon.

LG was promoting its new sponsorship deal with F1 this morning in a London hotel, when the Korean company’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dermot Boden, let slip that it is “looking to develop products in the future with Formula One.”

The folks over at The Link Experts cornered Boden afterwards to quiz him further on the possibility, and while he couldn’t confirm anything specific, he did mention the prospect of a Formula One phone.

“I can’t say definitively that we will, but it wouldn’t surprise me if we did something like that,” he said. “Why would we not want to have product like that coming out of this relationship?”

The jury’s still out on what features an F1 phone might have, but given the effort LG’s put into other partnerships (The stylish Bluetooth watch with the Prada II for instance), perhaps it’ll even top the latest Porsche phone for motor mobile chic. Or come modelled after a doddery old midget millionaire – Bluetooth Bernie has a great ring to it.

What would you want to see in an F1 phone? Give us your two cents in the comments below.
