Samsung shows off fab folding phone

Categories: Mobile Phones News   Tags: , ,

Imagine being able to take out a touchscreen display from your pocket and open it up up like a folded sheet of paper… Well, video footage of what looks like a flexible OLED display able to fold itself in half to become a mobile phone has been circulating online.

The phone/screen was spotted at a Samsung stand at the FPD International 2008 tech trade show in Japan. The display initially appears to be about 5-inches in size, but then it folds itself in half, revealing a smaller secondary screen on the opposite side.

When the display is closed, a Samsung emblem can be seen underneath the smaller screen and a menu of icons can also be seen, quite possibly suggesting the front panel is a touch-sensitive screen.

Sadly, no more info has been released as yet, but ‘cause this is a such cool concept, we reckon it’s an indication of the shape of things to come from the Seoul-based technology titan.
