We’ve unboxed Samsung’s monster camera mobile already, but it’s not like we’re just going to leave it out gathering dust on its touchscreen. We’ve had a play with it over lunch, and jotted down our thoughts on the snappy cellphone – see what we think after the jump.

Holding it in your hand, it’s an ideal size. The HTC Touch HD is almost too big, but the Pixon’s 3.2 inch screen feels just right, and responds much better to prods and pokes too.

The tactile feedback is a disaster however: where the Touch HD’s screen vibrates as you touch it, the Pixon rumbles at the back of the handset. Even on the lowest setting, it’s incredibly irritating, and you’ll soon find yourself putting it down on the table to type, only to find this causes it to make high pitched farting noises with every press. Unless you’ve got the patience of a Buddhist monk, we can guarantee you’ll turn feedback off within a day.

The Symbian OS is all present and accounted for, but it’s the camera we’re really interested in, and we can happily report it’s one of the best we’ve ever seen stashed in a mobile. Stacks of shot options, even exposure adjustments, are one touch away, and once snapped, you can geotag your picture straight off. Don’t believe us? Check out the pictures below, all taken with the Pixon, and the quality is superb.

The phone’s out on Thursday, and while it doesn’t handle music, net browsing or any other smartphone features better than your average iPhone-alike we’re still taken aback by its size, weight and camera. Unfortunately, like the BlackBery Storm, it’s sadly missing Wi-Fi so most pictures you take will have to be uploaded using 3G. If you’re a regular Flickr user or photo blogger, that means it might not be quite as quick as the competition, but when it comes to quality, it can’t be beat.

Out 20th November | Free from £30 per month | Samsung, Phones4U
