The airline industry might be suffering a little from the global economic inactivity, but as we all know, recession doesn’t last forever and it won’t be long before we put it all behind us and head off on a well-deserved break to nice and sunny.
And as we reported yesterday, mobile technology is featuring more and more in modern airline travel.
Gogo, a company that boasts the catchphrase “Wi-Fi with wings” has plans to help relieve in-flight boredom. Its new “Inflight Internet” program will allow PDA, mobile phones, and laptop users with Wi-Fi connectivity to get connected once you’ve reached an altitude of 10,000 feet.
So when you’re faced with half a dozen movies you’ve already seen or just plain don’t like, you can sit back, log on and chill out.
All you have to do is create an account before you board your flight, then, once your flight reaches 10,000 feet – which is only about 5 or 10 minutes into your flight – log on, purchase Gogo and start surfing.
Gogo will be available on select American Airlines flights, Virgin, Delta Air Lines and Air Canada.
