We’ve just got our hands on one of TomTom’s new Live satnavs. From the outside, it looks every inch the standard navigator, but inside there’s a hidden SIM card and mobile connection, letting it hop onto Google, grab petrol prices and track live traffic information.
See it ripped from its packaging and manhandled for your viewing pleasure here!
The GO 540 Live is typical TomTom fare from the outside. Fantastically designed, and with a few neat features. Sure, there’s no mains plug in the box, but you do get a desktop cradle and car charger (as you’d expect).
The former is great for hooking the satnav up to your computer, letting you tweak settings to your heart’s content. Voices, menus and themes can all be changed.
But the TomTom’s Live abilities mean it needn’t be connected to a PC to perform its fanciest tricks. Search for local attractions through Google, check the weather, and follow your friends’ exact locations on-screen.
