Despite being a little late to get behind the whole Internet gaming fad, Nintendo US’s President Reggie Fils-Aime has pledged that his company will “keep pace” with the changing face of games, and specifically the emerging trend for user-generated content. Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Interactive Entertainment Conference, Fils-Aime showcased four Japanese titles to back his words.

“Band Brothers Deluxe lets DS users compose their own music and then share it,” said Fils-Aime. “Girls Mode is a game that lets players design their own clothing and then run their own fashion store. Nintendo DSi Moving Notepad can be thought as a flipbook animation, your own doodle pad turned into a little movie and with WarioWare Myself users can design their own mini-games and then play them against their friends.”

Nintendo’s announcement leaves Microsoft notably lagging in terms of user-generated content. Although Nintendo’s vicelike control of Internet play indicates that it will probably be markedly less relaxed about what content is shared and how than even Sony/Media Molecule!
