Go-go Honda gadget legs!

Categories: Gadgets News   Tags: , , ,

These aren’t the first robotic legs we’ve seen from Honda, but now they’re sauntering out of the concept stage and into testing. Soon you’ll have high tech appendages helping you wander to the shops!

Building on research from the Asimo division, Honda’s “Walking Assist Device” includes a seat and frame, which follows the wearer’s movements exactly, but kicks in with extra power when any exertion is put on it, helping to lift heavy loads by shoring up leg muscles.

The whole thing will work for two hours between charges, and it looks like having a home in Honda’s manufacturing plants, if these initial photos are anything to go by.

It’s the product of nine years’ research, and now it’s heading out of the labs and into testing in “real-world conditions.”

But we’ve got some advice for you Honda: Forget the factories. We’ve got a load of shopping that needs bringing upstairs, a dog that needs walking, and if you can fit them with GPS too, they’d be great for walking us home after a night in the pub!
