In a move that won’t surprise many, Dan Houser, co-founder and creative VP at Rockstar games, has admitted that downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV may not release in 2008. While there’s still no clear information on what the downloadable content is – a new area of the city, new missions, or something else entirely – Houser has now said: “We don’t want [fans] to imagine it’s this enormous thing that it can never be…”
Speaking to Variety, and asked if the downloadable content, exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 (for now), was definitely coming out in 2008, Houser said: “I’m not sure. It’s going well. But we don’t know a date. We hope to be announcing that in the next few weeks. We’re still figuring out a few things. We’re more focused on quality than dates, always have been.”
The interview also covered Grand Theft Auto IV’s success in Japan, and Houser’s nerves over Grand Theft Auto IV being the first ever Rockstar game to get DLC TLC.
