Want to connect your notebook to the web using your iPhone 3G as a modem? Well, according to AT&T’s Ralph De La Vega, you won’t have to wait too much longer – tethering is finally heading to Apple’s mobile.

De La Vega didn’t go into the specifics of when it would available or if it would cost extra on top of your existing data plan – he simply told MobileCrunch that an official iPhone tethering method was in the works and coming “soon”. Tethering is often free on “all you can eat” unlimited data contracts, so we’ve got our fingers crossed that AT&T’s (and O2’s here in the UK) method won’t ask us to take out our wallets.
