O2 has been raided! The mobile network’s Oxford Street store in London had all its display iPhones pinched last week in the most fanboy-flavoured burglary we’ve ever heard of!

According to MobileToday O2 is now introducing tightened security measures in its new concept stores to avoid further handset heists.

The operator has struggled to resolve the problem in some stores. In this particular plunder, the 3G iPhone demonstration table was left with eight empty docks after all of the live 3G iPhone handsets were hijacked.

Stephen Shurrock, O2’s consumer sales director, said: “People will come in and steal, but not usually to that effect.”

“We are putting new security measures in our new stores, which should prevent the problem. We want to have live 3G iPhones available in every store.”
