DRM-free downloads are getting a marketing push from seven of the UK’s largest music download stores, unveiling a new badge that easily identifies DRM-free files that’ll work on any device.
7digital.com, Digitalstores.co.uk, HMV.com, Play.com, Tescodigital.com, Tunetribe.com and Woolworthsdownload.co.uk are all using the new “MP3 compatible” logo to set themselves apart from the likes of iTunes, which still sells majority of its tracks laced with copy protection.
It’ll also help music-buyers quickly identify legal download sites.
