What do you do if you’re no longer able to label your fortified red wine as “port”? Well, if you’re the Peltier Station Winery you label it “USB”, leaving tech-minded shoppers to fill in the blank themselves…
A recent regulation means that any port not actually “grandfathered” in Portugal can’t actually have the word “port” displayed on its packaging, so Peltier Station’s designers thought they’d have a bit of fun by drawing up a new label that would hint at the bottle’s contents without spelling it out explicitly. Very clever.
Even the tree and USB logo are loaded with significance. Both are drawn using binary code which, if translated, spells out “Peltier Station”.
The label has been approved by the powers that be – only after three months of deliberation to ensure it didn’t break the new rules – so look out for it on the shelves of your local offie.
