Asus isn’t content with cranking out eco-friendly bamboo laptops and awesome Eee Top touchscreen desktop PCs. Now it says there’s a $200 Eee PC on the way. That’s just £122!
The company’s CEO Jerry Shen says it’ll also be phasing out smaller 7 and 8.9-inch models too, focusing on 10-inch laptops for the bulk of its range.
Announcing sales figures for the first half of the year, Shen says Asus has sold 2.5 million laptops, as well as a whopping 1.7 million in the third quarter and a predicted 1.9 million units in its fourth quarter.
In all, it should push laptop shipments for 2008 to a eye-widening six million. Even more jaw-dropping, Asus reckons it’ll sell 20 million laptops in 2009.
