It may well be a blogger’s new best friend, but a new survey of Japanese gamers has found that less that four per cent of them were planning to buy Nintendo’s new DSi handheld console redesign any time soon. Over 40 per cent said they were not going to buy the DSi at any time.

The website Dengeki Online (translation via Kotaku) surveyed readers. 3.6 per cent said they were going to buy the DSi soon, 29.4 per cent said they would wait a while, 26.2 per cent were undecided and 40.7 per cent weren’t going to buy the DSi at all.

Asked what was most attractive about the DSi, 30.8 per cent said the improved screen size. And the screen size and Nintendo DSi Ware games were both cited as reasons to buy in reader comments. On the downside, the loss of the GBA slot was also mentioned repeatedly in the comments as a reason not to upgrade.
