TomTom’s ultra-smart, Google-equipped Go Live satnavs just started to ship to stores, so you’ll finally be able to buy them in a couple of weeks, but we’ve taken them for an early test drive to see if they really are more than just a map with search built in. See the pics right here!
Being connected to the web lets the satnav get real time updates, and it’s nothing short of jaw-dropping. We took a tootle around central London and saw TomTom’s on-the-fly updating in action, as another user alerted us to a mobile speed camera recently put up in Westminster.
More impressively though, a tap of a button brought up all the local petrol prices, so if you’re a daily driver, the £8 a month subscription willl pay for itself in just weeks. That’s all on top of proper predictive traffic, built-in Google search and the ability to see other live info, like weather reports. You can see it in action in our exclusive hands-on gallery below.
