It’s the most controversial post-apocalyptic RPG cum shooter sequel this side of… well, Fallout 2, so when we heard it was getting an early outing today we made a beeline for Fallout 3, and we’ve got hands on with it before its release on October 31.
The Fallout series had the 50s Cold War paranoia down to a fine art long before Bioshock, and Bethesda Software, the creators of Oblivion continue in that spirit.
The game sees your character start off as a 16 year old taking your G.O.A.T exams, with absurd questions involving what to do if you grow a mutant arm or your granny tries to shoot someone with a rifle.
Within minutes though, giant cockroaches have burst their way into Vault 101 and you’re fighting for your life. We didn’t find a rifle but saw some in play, and this looks set to take the action RPG to the next logical step after Oblivion, by putting guns in the mix. This is going to be the best – not to mention funniest – Halloween ever, folks.
Out Friday | £TBC | Bethesda
