A Japanese woman has been charged and held in Sapporo, Japan, for deleting the character of her virtual “husband” in the game Maplestory, after he virtually divorced her without warning.

The 43 year-old piano teacher, according to a BBC News report, was taken from her home in southern Miyazaki to Sapporo, where her 33 year-old office worker “husband” is based. And is charged with illegally accessing his log-in to the massively multi-player game that started in Korea, and “manipulating data” (ie deleting his character).

“I was suddenly divorced, without a word of warning,” the woman is quoted as telling investigators. “That made me so angry.”
