We got pretty excited by the leaked FCC sketches back in August, and while LG and Samsung have been quenching our 8 megapixel desires ever since it’s just possible the Casio W63CA might be worth a credit crunching trip to Osaka.
What’s so special you ask, well for a start there’s the 8.1 megapixels, Casio’s superb track record producing great cameras at bargain prices has come into its own in creating a top notch cameraphone.
Then there’s the small matter of the 3.1” OLED display, packing in 480 x 800 pixels, which will make every other hi-res screen look positively pixelated.
The camera features a wide-angle lens, 9-point auto focus, face detection, anti-shake, and a YouTube video mode that records VGA video at 30fps to microSD.
So basically a really excellent camera that happens to make phone calls. Oh and have you looked at the photo, it’s a sexy flip beast with real buttons and proper camera controls and knowing Casio it’s going to be available in lots of cool bright colours.
And now for the bad news. It’s extremely unlikely this phone will ever make it to these shores because Casio simply doesn’t have a strong presence in the UK phone market. Shame, big shame.
