The latest mobile tech has been given an airing at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London, and just received word of new technology on the show floor that could allow HD video to be handled by Nokia’s mobiles.
Visited by the chaps at NokNok.tv, processor manufacturer ARM was busy showing off its Cortex A8 chip, capable of churning out 720p video while using just 1 watt of batter power.
It’s a neat bit of kit, and since ARM already provides the processors inside Nokia’s N-Series mobiles, could be coming to the Finnish phone-maker’s products soon.
OK, so watching HD videos on a phone’s tiny screen is pretty pointless, but ARM’s chip can output to external screens too. It’s already inside Archos’ newest PMPs, and could be coming to Nokia phones soon.
What do you think? Would you use a mobile as a portable HD picturebox? Give us a shout below.
