Firefox for mobile launched

First there were the rumours, then the screenshots but today we can reveal the real deal, yes folks, Firefox Mobile Alpha, codenamed ‘Fennec’ is now available for download.

Named after a desert fox with big lugs, the first iteration of ‘Fennec’ can now be downloaded, toyed and tinkered with, but at the moment you’re only able to use it on the one mobile device, the Nokia N810.

Don’t sweat it though; if you don’t have the Nokia’s odd hybrid tablet browser kicking around you can get a feel of what it is like on Windows, Linux, or OS X.

A Windows Mobile version is in the pipeline but according to Mozilla it isn’t ready for public testing just yet.

According to Mozilla, Fennec includes touch-screen support, includes a password manager and pop-up blocker, offers a Firefox tab browsing interface, and provides the same address bar functionality as its bigger brother.
