Not content with serving up DVDs, games, DRM-free downloads and even the latest Eee PC, Play.com just launched its own ticket store too!

The online store’s fast becoming a one-stop shop for entertainment, with its latest service letting fans sell spare tickets they have for concerts and events.

Play lets sellers set their own price, but doesn’t charge postage, packing or a handling fee to buyers, so what you see is what you pay.

“The new service will guarantee all tickets purchased and no payments will be made to the seller until seven days after the event, removing the risk of non-delivery and fraudulent tickets,” Play explains.

Sounds good, and there’re already over 500,000 tickets listed for events from comedy and theatre to sports and music. Ebay, we may never darken your door again!

Play.com the new official site for touts to sell their wares £170 for a Metallica ticket?? Come on its time to sort these tout scum out, not give them more outlets to make unearned and untaxed earnings!!

in my opinion we should boycott ALL sites that promote ticket touts. why isnt the music industry doing anything about it? is it because may of these hyped up shows qouldnt actually sell out if it wasnt for these touts? they seem quick enough to clamp down on kids downloading they only seem bothered about lining their own pockets. they dont seem to give a toss about us fans out there. greedy bastards

the government seems just as bad. they talk about clamping down on it but do nothing whilst collecting the vat on it. what about the touts paying tax? many of them will be on the dole why isnt the tax office chasing them? once again, they claim downloading movies etc. is funding terrorism. why arent the same remarks being made about touts? is it because they are actually getting the shows sold out quicker for the promoters??
