It helped sell hundreds of thousands of PS3s. And now, Yoshitaka Arai of Konami has admitted, in an interview with Japanese newswire Morningstar, that the company is “currently looking into” doing a port of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console.
“Worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version is high,” said Arai. And Konami did in the past release Metal Gear 2 for the Xbox eventually.
According to Sony, though, the question remains not when, but if it’s possible at all. Speaking at E3 in July, Sony US CEO, Jack Tretton said: “Metal Gear Solid is not only exclusive on PS3 – it’s only possible on PS3, thanks in part to Blu-Ray.”
Whether Kojima will have to trim a few of the lengthy cut-scenes, or whether it will have to come on multiple discs, our guess is that MGS4 on 360 is perfectly possible, and given the huge installed base of the console, it makes good sense for Konami too.
UPDATE: John Schappert, Microsoft corporate vice-president of Live, Software and Services, has told trade newspaper: “we definitely have the power to run MGS4″ on the Xbox 360.

Sad!! Any version they get will be gimped!! No sixaxis controller, no ipod no NOTHING!! So much shit is going to be cut out, and the graphics aren’t gonna be nearly as good. Sorry xboxers!
John,
Why would the graphics not be as good? The 360 and PS3 are basically neck and neck on graphical power, with arguably the 360 actually being out in front in terms of what its games look like, framerates etc.
As to the Sixaxis and iPod elements – they’re both fairly replicable and also hardly essential items for the game.
The big question is surely how many discs will the game take up?
