Android phones are hot – pre-order sales of the T-Mobile G1 hit 1.5 million this week. And now a Motorola job ad has let slip its plans to do something extra special the Google platform: a social networking smartphone.
It looks like those cool kids at Motorola’s Interaction Design team aren’t afraid to board a bandwagon and get busy with Facebook et al. Its job ad says asks for a Senior Staff Interaction Designer “responsible for leading and actively participating in the concept, design, documentation and development of user interfaces for our mobile products including our new Android Social Networking SmartPhone”.
With a raft of me-too Android phones in development, a handset that does a good job of social networking on the move, complete with location-based friend-finding, sounds good. And knowing Motorola, it’ll look blisteringly trendy to satisfy the youth market. Unless it’s modelled on its VC6096 ugly phone, that is.
