Expecting Apple to unveil shiny new glass trackpads tonight? You could be in for a disappointment if these new spy shots are anything to go by, but by way of compensation, how about obscenely powerful graphics and a completely buttonless trackpad instead?
These spy shots, handed to the guys at Engadget, show the new MacBook Pro with a glossy black-bezeled screen, and sporting a trackpad curiously free of buttons.
According to John Gruber at Daring Fireball, the whole trackpad is a button, potentially ‘clicking,’ a little like the BlackBerry Storm’s screen, when pressure is applied.
Inside we’re told there are two Nvidia GPU chips, cranking out more graphical grunt than any portable Mac before it.
And now for the bad news. Engadget has heard that the update will only apply to the 15-inch MacBook Pro, with no updates for the 17-inch model or the entire MacBook line.
We find that a bit hard to believe. Apple has convened a special event to announce new MacBooks, after all. Unless there’s a surprise in store to take up the rest of the time?
Keep it here for more updates as we get them, and live coverage of Apple’s special event from 6pm UK time.
