UPDATE: As well as bumping up the storage options and boosting the Air’s graphical grunt, Apple has replaced the custom processor provided by Intel with a smaller, less power-hungry off the shelf number. The change sees the Air get a Penryn-class processor, running at 1.6GHz or 1.86GHz. It’s an Intel Core 2 Duo chip, and increases the processor’s cache from 4MB to 6MB, meaning it’ll access data faster, with less impact on the laptop’s battery.
As well as unveiling the new MacBook and MacBook Pro today, Apple has refreshed the MacBook Air, adding more powerful graphics hardware, a bigger hard disk and Apple’s new mini display port.
Just as slim and light as ever, the Air now packs a 120GB hard drive as standard, alongside Nvidia’s brand new GeForce 9400M graphics processor. There’s also 2GB of memory inside and a 1.6Ghz processor.
A pricier 1.86Ghz model offers up a 128GB solid state drive, but will cost an extra £500.
