UPDATE: Apple’s just handed over one of the brand new MacBook Pros. We’ve ripped it open, taking an absurd amount of photos along the way. Come and take a look at our MacBook Pro unboxing!
The rumours were right. Apple just ripped the covers off a brand new MacBook and MacBook Pro, as well as updating the MacBook Air, packing in next-generation graphics hardware, a multi-touch glass trackpad and revolutionary shell made from a single piece of aluminium.
The new machines pack in new Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics processors, with an option to install the Nvidia GeForce 9400M GT in the MacBook Pro for extra grunt.
It means a whopping 5x performance increase over current MacBook hardware.
Both laptop ranges also pack LED backlit screens too, which provide brighter colours, use less power, and switch on instantly.
The laptops’ multi-touch trackpads are also very special. Made from glass, Apple says its designers worked for months to get the texture right, but they’re not just pretty, they now support multi-touch gestures using up to four fingers.
Of course, the new designs are slimmer too. The MacBook and MacBook Pro are now 0.95 inches thick.
Not taken with the new design? We can’t think why you wouldn’t love it, but just incase, Apple’s going to continue selling the white plastic MacBook, for the bargain price of £719.
The new MacBook starts at £949, while the new MacBook Pro starts at £1,399.
